About the class
This course is a wonderful opportunity for beginners, or for those who would like a refresher on the basics of watercolor. Students will learn the following: How to be comfortable with watercolor and the brushes, how to create a shade chart, a color mixing chart and a tone chart, how to practice brushstrokes and lay down a wash, how to paint a small scene using layering and tone and how to use color to paint a small landscape. Students will need to bring the following: a roll of soft paper towels, a container of watercolor blocks (at least 12 blocks), brushes - #8 round, #4 round, #3 or #4 flat, a 1/2 inch mop brush (or a 10 or #12 round brush), a pencil, watercolor paper (several sheets 5 x 7 or larger, 140 lb or 300 gsm weight), hair dryer (not necessary but it helps the drying process), a roll of masking tape or blue painter's tape (1/4" to 1" wide). Please buy quality materials but don't break the bank! There will be a 30 minute lunch break so please bring your lunch, and drink.
